Seven Red Flags When Buying Liquidation Stock
This trade has more confident sellers than honest ones. These are the signals worth walking away from, including where they would apply to us.
1. A precise manifest for an unmanifested load
If a load is described as unmanifested and a detailed contents list appears anyway, one of those two statements is untrue.
2. Published estimated retail values
A retail value on unsorted freight is an estimate presented as a measurement. It exists to make the price look like a discount.
3. Guaranteed profit or guaranteed ratios
Nobody can guarantee what returns stock will resell for. A seller promising a percentage of new-with-tags goods is promising something they have not checked.
4. Countdown timers and stock counters
Manufactured urgency. If the load is genuinely scarce it does not need a clock, and most of those clocks reset when you reload the page.
5. Reviews that all arrived at once
Look at the dates and the writing. Twenty five-star reviews in a week, all phrased the same way, are not twenty customers.
6. Freight quoted after you commit
A low headline price with freight added later can double the real cost. Ask what lands at your door before you agree to anything.
7. No written policy on damage
If a seller has no stated claim window and no stated process, you have no recourse when a pallet arrives crushed.
